Mezzo-Soprano Katie Trigg Profiled in the New Zealand Herald

The Curtis Institute of Music welcomes mezzo-soprano Katie Trigg to the school this fall. The rising young singer was recently profiled in the New Zealand Herald, as she prepares to join the school and Curtis Opera Theatre this year. In the article, Katie discusses her career path, excitement about becoming a Curtis student, and farewell concerts in Hamilton at the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts with pianist Francis Cowan.

“I will be joining a community of musical peers which will challenge and inspire me, and connect to a network of distinguished alumni with international reach and a legacy that far surpasses its size.

“I feel incredibly privileged, and somewhat humbled, to have been given this fantastic opportunity for an international career,” says Katie.

Marlène Ngalissamy (Bassoon ’19 and CAF ’20) has been named to the “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30” list for 2022 by CBC Music. This summer marks the 10th edition of this annual tradition by the Canadian FM radio network. Each rising classical music star was selected for winning prizes and competitions, releasing albums, making notable debuts, and graduating from some of the world’s top music schools.
