Maya Anjali Buchanan Wins Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition

In February, violin student Maya Anjali Buchanan was named a winner of the 2020 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition. Her recognition as an accomplished young musician was widely reported, including a mention in the San Francisco Chronicle.

Ms. Buchanan was also interviewed by her hometown paper, the Rapid City Journal, as a competitor in the upcoming Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. She discussed what she is looking forward to most during the prestigious competition, which will also involve seven other Curtis violinists.
