Kevin Lin Named Concertmaster of Indianapolis Symphony

Curtis alum Kevin Lin (Violin ’17) has just been named Concert Master of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The former London Philharmonic Co-Leader takes the Hilbert Circle Theater stage this weekend as part of our #BTHVN2020 Celebration (honoring the 250th birth anniversary of Beethoven), and will join us full time during the ISO’s 2020-21 Season.

Overtones: Imperial Wonder with Jonathan Biss

Jonathan Biss reflects on the enduring majesty of Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto in the Fall 2019 edition of Overtones. Read the article HERE.

“The ‘Emperor’ turns … tradition on its head,” writes Mr. Biss, a Curtis alumnus and faculty member known for his lifelong study of Beethoven’s piano works. Those years of study have left him keenly aware of a signature challenge when performing Beethoven’s music, so beloved and widely known by audiences: “How do I capture that quality of wonder, having spent hundreds of hours practicing it over the past 20 years?” Learn more as Mr. Biss explores his approach to this famed work, before he performs it with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra on their upcoming United States tour.
