Media Production Manager

As a critical member of the Curtis Media team, Media Production Manager works with the SVP, Digital and Media team to create media that supports several strategic goals: to sustain growth and success of our students; to raise the profile of the school in Philadelphia and beyond; to position Curtis as an essential community resource for Philadelphia; to help diversify, expand, and strengthen the Curtis community; and to support a stable financial foundation on which to build the next 100 years of world-class education and artistry.

The primary responsibilities of this role includes successful technical production and distribution of recording projects on Curtis’s label. Recording projects will primarily be digital audio recordings but will also include video components. The label will release approximately 3 projects per year.

In addition, this role is responsible for managing AV production calendars, media asset tracking, file delivery and backups, and other production assistance for the media team.

Essential Functions:

Oversee coordination of label recording projects:
  • Scheduling sessions and meeting with artists and media team
  • Booking recording spaces
  • Timely and responsive communication with artists, artists managers, and relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain professional communication and standards between artists, artist managers, and Curtis
  • Coordinate artist review comments
  • Track final audio mastering with production team
  • Upload assets to digital service provider
Manage assets for label projects:
  • Create one sheet for each project
  • Manage cover art development in coordination with SVP, Digital and Director of Marketing
  • Develop website program notes in coordination with VP, Communications
  • Coordinate photography or other design needs with Director of Marketing
  • Coordinate licensing with Curtis’s Orchestra Librarian
  • Develop promotional materials such as b-roll and BTS photos for social media and other channels
  • Maintain A/V production schedules for Curtis recording sessions
  • Organize and manage Curtis’s media files, including sending files to the archives, saving files to media servers, adding metadata
  • Coordinate with Digital Archives to manage and coordinate media
  • Based on candidate’s experience, provide audio and/or video production support for masterclasses, orchestra, opera, and 20/21 performances

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would possess:
  • Deep knowledge of classical music either as a performer or in a production role.
  • Experience and comfort with media recording, including audio and video.
  • Technical experience producing audio or video projects.
  • Excellent bedside manner with artists, colleagues, and sponsors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative and empathetic approach to working with artists and producers.
  • Ability to stand for hours at a time.
  • Flexibility to work off hours and weekends to accommodate recording session schedules.
  • Ability to read music/scores
