  • Responsibilities

    Portfolio Management and Reporting 

    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward the Curtis Institute of Music’s pipeline of institutional donors to achieve annual and campaign goals. 
    • Proliferate new and renewed sources of institutional giving, especially with an eye toward growing regional and local support. 
    • Work with the Director of Planned and Major Gifts to establish and monitor annual and multi-year revenue goals for new and renewed institutional giving. 
    • Identify, research, and evaluate sources of potential funding in line with the organization’s needs and priorities, and provide research reports as requested. 
    • Compose letters of intent and grant proposals as assigned. Ensure timely submission and compliance with grant guidelines. 
    • Manage portfolio to ensure timely fulfillment of grant requirements including the project scope, budget, and deliverables. 
    • Research and qualify a strong portfolio of national institutional supporters. 
    • Serves as the point person and advisor for proposals initiated by staff not on the development team. 
    • Oversee the completion of briefings for Curtis senior staff members in preparation for their meetings with corporate and foundation representatives. 
    • Provide technical and editing assistance to the Advancement team. 
    • Attend rehearsals, performances, community engagement activities, and Curtis community events, performing day-of-event duties as assigned. 
    • Explore new and transformative ways to integrate storytelling seamlessly in institutional giving work. 

    Departmental and Administrative 

    • Coordinate recognition and cultivation of institutional donors including: proofing donor listings, sponsor credits and logo placement, reception invitations, etc.  
    • Maintain active SAM.gov, Grants.gov, and lobbyist discourse registrations. 
    • Work with the Stewardship Manager to maintain current institutional giving information on Curtis.edu. 
    • Work with the Database Specialist to ensure constituent records are current and complete. 
    • Participate in routine prospect and pipeline meetings, manage special projects, and serve as a resource to the campaign working group. 
  • Qualifications
    • 2–3 years of experience in philanthropic writing and content creation preferred. 
    • Excellent analytical, research, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Ability to learn appropriate levels of information about a broad range of activities and to synthesize complex ideas into compelling proposals that resonate with funders. 
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ability to prioritize and manage deadlines  
    • Experience working on prior fundraising campaigns is a plus.  
    • Familiarity engaging with foundations, corporations, and government agencies devoted to education or the arts and arts education is preferred. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs. Ability and willingness to learn other software programs as needed. Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge (or other constituent databases) and design skills are a plus. 
    • Understanding of and passion for Curtis’s mission and program areas in arts and education.

  • Working Conditions/Physical Demands
    • This position is based on the Curtis Institute of Music’s Philadelphia campus
    • Routine for office environment
    • Hybrid and in-person work schedules available
    • Some night and weekend work may be required on occasion
  • Salary Range and Benefits
    • $65,000 – 75,000 total annual compensation
    • The Curtis Institute of Music provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, supplemental life, and supplemental long-term disability insurance are available for eligible employees and dependents at low cost. Life and accidental death insurance, and both short and long-term disability insurance are at no cost to eligible employees.
    • Curtis offers eligible employees participation in a 401(k) plan after one year of service.
