Reporting to the Senior Director of Information and Technology, the Associate Director of IT will be central in driving progress, improving team collaboration, and displaying exceptional troubleshooting skills supporting our staff, faculty, and students.

  • Essential Functions
    • Provide expert technical support and manage day-to-day functions of the IT team, including coaching and ensuring staff maintain a positive and professional demeanor.
    • Ensuring support calls and tickets are handled in a timely, effective manner as per service level agreement (SLA)
    • Ensuring IT best practices are implemented.
    • Experience with classroom and conference room AV systems
    • Demonstrated excellence in a customer service role.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
    • A demonstrated problem-solving attitude: relishing challenges, finding creative solutions, and facilitating productive relationships.
    • Experience with Apple OS and Apple MDM cloud solutions.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Preferred Experience and Qualifications

    Curtis welcomes applications from people with a wide variety of experience and backgrounds, who are eager to work hard, learn, and contribute. Experience should include and/or exhibit: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field preferred.
    • Three to five years’ experience, or combination of technical education and experience in the help desk/customer support environment with supervisory experience.
    • A high proficiency with Windows and Apple operating systems and office products in a domain environment as well as a general understanding of networking and hardware troubleshooting
    • A thorough knowledge of technical support concepts, best practices, and procedures.
    • Possess the ability to guide, train, and motivate staff in troubleshooting techniques.
    • This position will need to learn new technology quickly.
    • Experience with classroom and conference room AV systems
    • Demonstrated excellence in a customer service role.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
    • A demonstrated problem-solving attitude: relishing challenges, finding creative solutions, and facilitating productive relationships.

    Other Important Requirements:

    • You will attend frequent meetings with staff, faculty, and students.
    • Occasionally, you will shepherd the audio-visual or online components of events (auditions, master classes, speaking engagements, presentations) outside of normal business hours.
    • You will be one of several IT staff members sometimes on call for emergencies outside of normal business hours.
    • Occasionally, you may be required to work evenings, weekends, or come in early as needed.
    • This position must be able to provide coverage for the IT department when needed.

  • Working Conditions and Physical Demands
    • Job is located in Philadelphia
    • This is an onsite position.  Remote work will be approved on an as needed basis if the department has adequate coverage
    • Exertional requirements are primarily routine office environment, however some physical labor may be required involving equipment moves and room setup, including the ability to lift, briefly, up to 30 pounds. Curtis maintains several historic buildings to which egress is gained by stairs only.
    • Some night and/or weekend work may be required as needed  
    • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer at the time of hire.
    • COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for all positions at the Curtis Institute of Music and all new hires are expected to be fully vaccinated before beginning work.
  • Compensation and Benefits
    • $85,000 – $90,000 gross annually salary, commensurate with experience
