A Curtis alumnus and incoming student have been named to the "30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30" list

Thomas Roy-Rochette (Bassoon ʼ22) and incoming piano student Elijah Orlenko have been named to the “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30” list for 2023 by CBC Music. This summer marks the Canadian FM radio network’s 10th anniversary of this annual tradition. Each rising classical music star was selected for winning prizes and competitions, releasing albums, making notable debuts, and graduating from some of the world’s top music schools.

The National Youth Orchestra of Canada has also named Mr. Roy-Rochette the second-place winner of the 2023 Michael Measures Prize, alongside violinist Tiffany Yeung. This prestigious prize recognizes promising young classical musicians from Canada, provides them with invaluable development opportunities, and encourages public recognition of their achievements.
