New Piano Student Olivia Li Featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer
At just seven years old, Li may be the youngest student to study at Curtis since 1950. She begins her studies at Curtis this fall with Ignat Solzhenitsyn and Michelle Cann.
We’re excited to share that new piano student Olivia Li was spotlighted in a Philadelphia Inquirer article by Peter Dobrin. At just seven years old, Li is among Curtis’ youngest students; only about 13 other students in the school’s century-plus existence were under the age of ten.
What set Olivia apart in her audition, says Eleanor Sokoloff Chair in Piano Studies Michelle Cann (’13), one of Li’s primary teachers at Curtis, was “how musical she was—and how much personality and character about the music-making she had that you don’t expect to see in a seven-year-old. It just stood out so much.”
