Curtis Presents First Annual Philadelphia Trombone Week

The five-day intensive featured members of the Philadelphia trombone section, as well as Curtis faculty and special guest artists.


This May 19-23, Curtis was pleased to host the inaugural Philadelphia Trombone Week, a five-day orchestral intensive for students ages 16 and up. The event featured members of the Philadelphia Orchestra trombone section, as well as trombonists in the greater Philly community.

Curtis faculty participants included Blair Bollinger (’86), Matthew Vaughn, and Nitzan Haroz,  alongside guest artists Sasha Romero and Ken Wolff.

Trombone student Jackson Howard (’26) spearheaded the intensive through his Community Artist Project, the capstone of his community engagement coursework. The program included:

  • One-on-one time with faculty
  • Trombone choir rehearsals
  • Section play-ins
  • Nightly faculty recitals
