The Philadelphia Orchestra recently announced the appointment of Curtis alumna Victoria Knudtson (’20) as its new assistant principal/utility horn. Knudtson joins the ensemble in its 2025–26 season, which kicks off on September 25 and marks the 125th anniversary of the ensemble.

“As we celebrate 125 years of The Philadelphia Orchestra, [Victoria’s] presence reminds us that our legacy is alive and more inspiring than ever,” said Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. “I very much look forward to collaborating.”

Previously, Victoria served as assistant principal/utility horn with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, a position she began after completing her Artist Diploma at Curtis in 2020. A native of Minnesota, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University studying under Jeffery Nelsen.
