William R. Brody

William Brody was president of Johns Hopkins University for 13 years before heading the Salk Institute for Biological Studies as its president and professor emeritus. He trained as a physician-scientist, with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT and an M.D. and Ph.D. (EE) from Stanford University. He was professor of radiology at Stanford, radiologist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins, and oversaw the health sciences at the University of Minnesota before becoming president of Johns Hopkins. He has served on numerous corporate and non-profit organizations and presently is a director of Stanford Healthcare, and trustee of the W.M. Keck Foundation. He co-founded four medical device companies and served as CEO of Resonex, Inc. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. An amateur pianist himself Bill joined the Curtis board of trustees in March 2017.

He and his wife Hyunah Yu Brody, a soprano, make their home in Baltimore.
