Joe Nero
Percussion / Performance
Joe Nero is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Through the years he has been known for his versatility as a drummer and percussionist in the tri-state area. Mr. Nero has worked in every major theater and showroom in Philadelphia and Atlantic City; and has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Philadelphia.
Mr. Nero has toured worldwide with such diverse artists as Bette Midler, Burt Bacharach, Bernadette Peters, Andy Williams, Anthony Newley, Bobby Rydell, and Frankie Avalon. He has also performed with jazz artists Tony Bennett, Eddie Gomez, Bill Watrous, Kurt Elling, Jimmy Bruno, and Larry McKenna. He has recorded with various artists for Sony, Philly International, and Atlantic Records.
Currently Mr. Nero performs as drummer/percussionist with the Philly POPS Orchestra and Philly POPS Big Band. He can be found in the orchestra pits of most major Philadelphia theaters as well as the jazz/commercial music scene.
Mr. Nero joined the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in 2019.
