Eric Wen is a specialist in the theory and analysis of tonal music. He has published numerous articles in the field of music analysis, as well as a textbook entitled Graphic Music Analysis (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019) and a compilation of analyses called Structurally Sound (Dover, 2017); and has presented papers on the subject at many universities and conferences.
Mr. Wen has presented lectures in the practical application of theory to performance alongside pianists Murray Perahia and András Schiff. He has edited number performing editions for Carl Fischer Music Publishers; and, as an independent CD producer, has worked with such artists as Edward Aldwell, Benjamin Hochman, Ruggiero Ricci, Aaron Rosand, Gil Shaham, Hagai Shaham, Oscar Shumsky, Arnold Steinhardt, Maxim Vengerov, Pinchas Zukerman, and the Guarneri and Tokyo String Quartets.
Mr. Wen joined the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in 1999.
