Tobias Vigneau (Double Bass '24) Joins The Philadelphia Orchestra

The award-winning Curtis alumnus, one of four new members appointed to the world-renowned orchestra, will join as assistant principal bass in September 2024

Curtis congratulates alumnus Tobias Vigneau (Double Bass ’24), who was recently announced as one of four new musicians appointed to The Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of music and artistic director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Curtis’ head of conducting and music director of the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. Vigneau, a native of Albuquerque, entered Curtis in 2020 and studied double bass with Harold Hall Robinson and Edgar Meyer. In the 2023–school year, Mr. Vigneau served as principal double bass of the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. The prize-winning musician will join The Philadelphia Orchestra in September as assistant principal bass alongside violinists John Bian, Eliot Heaton, and MuChen Hsieh.

“We are thrilled to welcome these four exceptional musicians to The Philadelphia Orchestra family,” said Maestro Nézet-Séguin. “Each brings a unique perspective and rich experience to their craft, and I look forward to collaborating with them and witnessing their contributions to the Orchestra and our community for many years to come.”
