Susie Park (Violin '04) is a Guest on the Latest Episode of Arts Engines
Curtis graduate Susie Park (Violin ’04) and violist Sam Bergman of the Minnesota Orchestra were recent guests on Arts Engines with Aaron Dworkin. In this latest episode, they discuss the Orchestra’s anti-racist learning project and the importance of this work throughout the orchestra industry.
During the 2020–21 season, the Minnesota Orchestra launched a series of Anti-Racist Learning Projects, designed to serve as crucial steps toward reducing its reliance on and reproduction of white privilege. The organization-wide projects focused on three particular areas: increasing literacy and critical thinking about anti-racism; growing the Orchestra’s engagement with AMELIA (African, Middle Eastern, Latin, Indigenous, Asian) composers, and diversifying their artistic programming and musical literacy; and shifting communications and marketing messages to identify and challenge dominant white racial frames.
