Hyein Oh Wins First Prize at Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition
The first-year clarinet student won the classical clarinet category, earning $1,000, new Vandoren products, and a trip to Paris.
We’re delighted to congratulate current student and Curtis Institute of Music Fellow Hyein Oh, who won first prize in the classical clarinet category at the 2026 Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition (VEA). The prize includes $1,000, a Vandoren product package—including a mouthpiece, ligature, and reeds—and a trip to Paris to visit 56 Rue Lepic, the historic home of Vandoren.

Founded in 2010, the VEA was created to spotlight the next generation of outstanding clarinetists and saxophonists. The competition recognizes not only exceptional technical ability, but also the dedication, discipline, and artistry required to succeed at the highest levels of performance.
