John Dowell: A Public Intimate Space
This performance is sold out. Please visit The Barnes Foundation for more information.
Join Curtis Institute of Music students at the Barnes Foundation as they share an immersive performance piece, created by artist and Philadelphia native John E. Dowell, Jr. A Public Intimate Space blends movement, sound, and photography to explore the public square—in this case Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square. The Barnes’s Annenberg Court will be transformed by Dowell’s towering images of Rittenhouse Square, music from composer Maya Miro Johnson, and dancers led by choreographer Zane Booker. Per Dowell, the performance is intended to “reveal past and present souls while invoking and visualizing the power of memory within the public square.”
Curtis is proud to partner with the Barnes Foundation for this performance.
