Described by Le Devoir as “an excellent actress with impeccable projection and style,” soprano Juliette Tacchino is garnering acclaim for her artistry and stage presence. In the 2025–26 season, she stars in the premiere stage adaptation of Les Desmoiselles de Rochefort at the Théâtre du Lido in Paris and tours throughout the United States in chamber music concerts and recitals. She won the special jury prize at the 2024 Sumi Jo International Singing Competition and the 2024 French Riviera Masters Competition at the Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur.
Biography
Described by Le Devoir as “an excellent actress with impeccable projection and style,” soprano Juliette Tacchino is garnering acclaim for her artistry and stage presence. During the 2026–27 season, she will perform Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Die Mädchen (Moses und Aaron), and the First Nymph (Rusalka) at Theater Basel as a member of OperAvenir.
In the 2025–26 season, she appeared in the starring role of Delphine Garnier for eight months in the staged adaptation of Les Demoiselles de Rochefort at the Théâtre du Lido in Paris. Additionally, she performed Dvořák’s Te Deum with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, toured throughout the United States in chamber music concerts and solo recitals, and performed a special concert with Opera Fuoco in Palm Beach, FL.
In 2024–25, Juliette joined internationally renowned soprano Sumi Jo on a tour of China and South Korea after winning the special jury prize at the 2024 Sumi Jo International Singing Competition. She was also a winner of the 2024 French Riviera Masters Competition at the Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur. She performed with Opéra Fuoco in Paris under Maestro David Stern, where she collaborated with Laurent Naouri and Elsa Rooke in opera scenes by Jules Massenet, presented a recital at the Château d’Écouen near Paris, and performed the soprano soloist role in William Boyce’s Solomon at the Opéra de Massy. She made role debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro under Nicholas McGegan with Curtis Opera Theatre. She also performed Claude Vivier’s spectral work for soprano, Lonely Child, with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra.
Other performance highlights in recent years include concert performances of Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) and Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) with Curtis Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, as well as performing roles on the opera stage, including Ginevra (Ariodante), Thérèse (Les Mamelles de Tirésias), Vixen (The Cunning Little Vixen) and as a featured soloist in a staged production of Handel’s L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato. In concert, Juliette appeared as the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Binghamton Philharmonic, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the Université de Montréal Orchestra, and Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Dettingen Te Deum with Monte-Carlo Chamber Orchestra.
Born into a musical family, Juliette began her vocal journey as a young singer in the Children’s Choir of the Opéra de Nice. During her musical studies, she performed the roles of Ilia (Idomeneo), Pauline (La Vie Parisienne), and Phani (Les Indes Galantes), A Nymph in The Fairy Queen, and as a soloist in new work by Canadian composer Ana Sokolović. Additionally, she was awarded first prize at the Opéra Bouffe de Québec Competition in 2022 and 2020 and is a recipient of the Louise Roy Scholarship, the Azrieli Foundation Scholarship, and a 2024 laureate of the Cercle Richard Wagner Rive Droite. She was highlighted in a 2024 New York Times feature about training and artistic development of emerging artist leaders at the renowned Curtis Institute of Music.
Juliette received her Master of Music degree from Curtis Institute of Music and her bachelor’s degree from Université de Montréal.
