Symposium for Women & Nonbinary Bassists Faculty Recital
2026 Faculty Recital
Now in its third year, this symposium brings together an outstanding faculty and a vibrant international community of bassists for four inspiring days of lessons, masterclasses, workshops, and performances.
Founded in 2024 by Curtis alumna bassist Hanxiao Deng, the symposium welcomes women and non-binary double bassists of all levels from around the world, offering a supportive environment for artistic growth, mentorship, and collaboration.

Join the Symposium
As a participant, the registration fee for the full experience of the symposium is $400. The fee includes:

- One-hour private lesson with a faculty member
- Five masterclasses with symposium faculty, with 30 minutes of individual performance time per participant
- Building a Project Based Career workshop with Nina Bernat
- Bass Set-up Adjustments, Maintenance and Home Repair workshop with Helen McIntosh
- Neck Geometry and Shape for Playability workshop with Anne Marie Runco
- Technique Fundamentals & The Art of Teaching workshop with Tracy Rowell
- Composition workshop with Kebra-Seyoun Charles
- Special faculty recital
- Curtis campus tour led by Curtis students
- Lunches with faculty and fellow participant
- Free bass repair corner hosted by sponsoring luthiers (limited on-site basic maintenance and minor repairs available)
