After years of study, members of the class of 2022 share their talents and passion through a final graduation recital. Admission requires advance reservation and is complimentary.

Join bassoon student Thomas Roy-Rochette for his graduation recital. Thomas opens the recital with a Ravel vocalise, and continues with a Telemann Viola da gamba sonata. Thomas concludes his recital with Quintet by Édouard Dupuy.

About the Performers

Thomas Roy-Rochette, from Québec City, entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2018 and studies bassoon with Daniel Matsukawa, principal bassoon of the Philadelphia Orchestra. All students at Curtis receive merit-based, full-tuition scholarships, and Mr. Roy-Rochette is the Myer and Helen K. Schwartz Fellow.

Mr. Roy-Rochette has performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, and the Wind and Percussion Ensemble of Québec City. He was awarded first place at the Soloists and Small Ensemble Competition of Victoriaville in 2013 and 2015, and in 2016 he participated in the TV show Virtuose, a broadcast classical music competition on Radio-Canada. He has attended the Domaine Forget International Music Festival and the Camp Musical du Père Lindsay.

Mr. Roy-Rochette began studying the piano at age five and the bassoon at age 12. He previously attended the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec, where he studied with Richard Gagnon.

Maya Anjali Buchanan, from Rapid City, S.D., is a student of Ida Kavafian and entered Curtis in 2018.

Matthew Christakos, from Toronto, is a student of Gary Hoffman and Peter Wiley, and entered Curtis in 2019.

Matthew Hakkarainen, from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is a student of Pamela Frank and entered Curtis in 2018.

Jack Kessler, from Miami, Fla., is a student of Roberto Díaz and Ed Gazouleas, and entered Curtis in 2019.

Danny Yehun Jin, from Seoul, is a student of Ida Kavafian and entered Curtis in 2013.
