Violin, Guitar, and Cello
Due to a family illness, Elissa Lee Koljonen has had to withdraw from this performance. Maya Anjali Buchanan (Violin ’25) will join the performance for the Piazzolla trio, as well as offer solo violin selections.
Violinist Maya Anjali Buchanan (’25), guitarist Hao Yang (’22), and cellist Romain-Olivier Gray present a program celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, featuring works by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, George Gershwin, Reena Esmail, and others, including a special arrangement of Pat Metheny‘s “Always and Forever” arranged by Curtis guitar faculty member Jason Vieaux.
This performance lasts 60 minutes with no intermission.

Recognized for her enchanting performances and exceptional bel canto-like lyricism, Indian-American violinist, Maya Anjali Buchanan, is gaining wide appeal as a dynamic young artist with extraordinary musicality. Named Yamaha’s 2020 Young Performing Artist for Classical Music/Violin she has performed on three continents garnering enthusiastic reviews.

Hao Yang Guitar
Hao Yang (’22) is a concert classical guitarist and Astral Artist from China. She actively engages in solo and chamber music performances. Yang has appeared as a soloist with the Chusachsische Philharmonie in Germany. She was guest soloist at the Cleveland, Panama, and Beijing International Guitar Festivals and has performed concerts in major venues such as the Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center, New York Subculture, Kimmel Center, Miller Theatre at Columbia University, and Princeton Sound Kitchen.

Romain-Olivier Gray Cello
Romain-Olivier Gray, from Québec City and Woodbridge, Virginia, studying cello with Nicholas Canellakis, Yumi Kendall, Christine Lee, and Peter Wiley, is the Maurice Gendron Memorial Fellow and entered Curtis in 2022.
