Osvaldo Golijov’s song cycle Ayre weaves together musical strands from Spain, North Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and his native South America to create a new musical language of breathtaking creative expression. Sounds of technology and worldwide folk traditions combine with Western classical instruments to create a dramatic compendium of ancient storytelling through modern sonorities. Soprano Sarah Shafer, a Curtis alumna, is featured.
