When Paul Kowert (Double Bass ’09) received an offer to join the progressive bluegrass band Punch Brothers during his final year at Curtis, he knew his life was about to change quickly. The Grammy Award-winning quintet, known for its virtuosic and boundary-pushing style, had tapped Mr. Kowert as its new bass player after parting ways with its founding member.
