Carnival of the Animals

February 18 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Gould Rehearsal Hall, 1616 Locust Street

Enjoy a menagerie of musical storytelling and interactive art-making with the Curtis Institute of Music and Enchantment Theatre Company. Families are invited to explore Saint-Saëns’s suite, The Carnival of the Animals, as two Curtis pianists provide musical portraits of lions, kangaroos, elephants, and other favorite creatures; and Philadelphia’s celebrated Enchantment Theatre Company narrates in fanciful detail. Children can create their own animal-inspired artwork during the performance which will be featured alongside artwork by students from local schools.

Meet the Zorá String Quartet!

Sunday, October 1 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Gould Rehearsal Hall, 1616 Locust Street

Enjoy a lively hour of music and hands-on fun with the Zorá String Quartet, Curtis's quartet in residence. Kids will hear pieces by Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Scott Joplin, with a chance to meet the musicians and learn about stringed instruments. We invite everyone to join in the music-making by bringing your voices, and if your child plays a stringed instrument, please bring it, too. We'll perform Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" together.
