Hanchien Lee (Piano '03)

Pianist Hanchien Lee has performed at venues throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. She has given recitals for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Muhlenberg College, and the Texas State International Piano Festival. She has appeared as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra; the North America Elite Youth Orchestra; the National Taiwan and Plainfield symphony orchestras; the Perugia Chamber Orchestra; and Poland’s Capella Cracoviensis.

Ms. Lee won first prize at the Russel C. Wonderlic Memorial Competition, and holds top prizes from the Heida Hermanns and the Bösendorfer and Yamaha USASU international piano competitions. She has performed at the Sarasota and Norfolk Chamber music festivals; International Musicians Seminar, Prussia Cove; and Music Academy of the West.

Ms. Lee holds a bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music; a master’s degree and Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music, where she was a winner of the annual Chamber Music Competition; and a doctoral degree from Peabody Institute, where she received the Clara Ascherfeld Award. She currently serves on the piano faculty at the Peabody Preparatory. She has studied with Claude Frank, Eleanor Sokoloff, Boris Slutsky, Gary Graffman, Richard Goode, Meng-Chieh Liu, Jerome Lowenthal, and Fou T’song.
