Intersections II: Third Stream/Fourth Stream
What happens when jazz influences classical and classical influences jazz?
Ravel, Gershwin, Miles Davis, Gunther Schuller, and many others, have been fascinated by the potential musings and blurrings of these “genres”. The same can be said of bluegrass traditions morphing into the “classical” world with the likes of Bela Fleck, Chris Thiele, and Curtis’ own Edgar Meyer.
Join faculty member, Don Liuzzi in this joyful exploration co-curated by world renowned banjo artist, Tony Trischka (Bela’s teacher) and jazz pianist/composer, Adam Glaser (Conducting 99’). Think Copland mixed with Horace Silver, and Enescu with a bluegrass flair. Enjoy the ride!
