1. Prepare

Prepare supplementary materials.

  • Résumé

  • List of two to four solo pieces and/or harp parts or cadenzas from the major orchestral repertoire, to play in the master class if accepted.

  • A video recording of your playing, lasting 15 minutes to no more than 20 minutes. (It doesn’t have to be professional!) There are no repertoire requirements; however we suggest two contrasting works. Past performers of the Saratoga Harp Colony and past participants of Curtis Harp Days are not required to submit a new video, but are welcome to do so.

  • Contact information for current private teacher (your teacher will receive an email with directions from the registration system to submit a recommendation letter online).

  • A digital photo of yourself, from which a photo ID will be generated. The photo must be full-face view directly facing the camera with both eyes open, no glasses, and no hat or head covering that obscures or shadows your face. (Head coverings worn daily for religious purpose are allowed.)

2. Apply

Create an account on the application platform and complete the application.

Applications are open until March 31, 2021.

You will be notified of your status by email; the notice will include directions on tuition and housing payments.

3. Pay Fee

Pay the application fee on the application platform: $75 USD. Contact admissions@curtis.edu with a description of financial need for an application fee waiver.

 

Scholarships

Students of the Lyra Society may apply to be Junior Colonists on a full scholarship. Contact the Lyra Society directly for more information.

Limited financial assistance may be available, but is not guaranteed. Notice of financial assistance awards will be included in the acceptance status email.

Students and parents are also urged to seek financial assistance from local sources: self-organized fundraisers; school music organizations; county, state, or national music education organizations; youth orchestras and bands; music clubs; service clubs (Rotary, Kiwanis, etc.); businesses; local churches; and foundations.

Financial assistance

To apply for financial assistance, upload the following to section 4 (Scholarship) of the online application.

U.S. citizens:

  • Curtis Harp Days 2021 Financial Assistance Application, on Section 4 (Scholarship) of the online application.
  • All parent/guardian 2019 tax returns
  • All parent/guardian 2020 W-2 forms (include 2019 if 2020 W-2 form not yet available)

International applicants:

  • Curtis Harp Days 2021 Financial Assistance Application, on Section 4 (Scholarship) of the online application.
  • Copies of all parent/guardians’ most recent bank statements, in English or with translation provided
  • Letters, in English or with translation provided, from all parent/guardian employers stating total wages earned from January 2020–December 2020.

The majority of Harp Days applicants are dependent upon parent or guardians. If you are an older applicant and are financially independent, income documentation should be your own.

Applications to Curtis Harp Days are separate from those to the Curtis Institute of Music. Entries, materials and fees are not transferable. If applying to both, applicants should submit all items separately and in duplicate if required. Please refer to the program and application pages on this site for specific faculty rosters, application requirements, and program overviews. Enrollment in Curtis Harp Days garners no preferential treatment when auditioning for the conservatory in concurrent or subsequent years. Inquiries about summer program or conservatory admissions may be sent to admissions@curtis.edu.
