HELP RAISE $70,000 FOR SUMMERFEST FINANCIAL AID BY JUNE 15!
Summerfest is a comprehensive summer program held on the Curtis campus, with five distinctive program tracks for young musicians ages 11 to 22. Summerfest gives these students an insider’s view of conservatory life, and allows them to hone their musical talents under the guidance of distinguished Curtis faculty and alumni.
Since Summerfest's inception in 2012, admission has quickly become highly competitive. The Summerfest experience is now sought by some of the most talented young musicians in the country and the world.
The cost of Summerfest tuition and room and board ranges from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on the program track, and almost every Summerfest applicant requests some sort of financial assistance, whether need-based or merit-based. As with its world-renowned degree and diploma programs, Curtis aims to ensure that no student will be turned away from Summerfest programs due to financial limitations, so that talent and potential alone will drive admissions.
With your gift to the Summerfest Special Access Fund, you can play a part in addressing this growing need, and help to make the dreams of over 200 young musicians come true this summer.
Help Summerfest enroll the best of the best. Just last year, Summerfest lost 18 accepted students to other programs, simply due to our inability to provide competitive financial-aid packages. While Curtis's diploma and degree programs offered during the school year are tuition-free, its summer programs depend on tuition revenue. And yet merit-based financial aid is a defining factor in our applicants' decision-making process.
Help support broad access to Summerfest training. This year, Curtis is partnering with the Sphinx Organization to bring the Sphinx Performance Academy (SPA) to Philadelphia. This full-scholarship summer program designed for Black and Latino string players will enroll 32 young musicians in a 14-day performance program offering intensive instruction and mentorship from Curtis faculty and alumni. The financial assistance required for this program alone is $35,000.
When you make a gift to the Summerfest Special Access Fund, you can designate your support toward a program about which you are most passionate. You can also let us know what type of financial aid you’d like to make possible—merit-based or need-based. If you are a current donor to Curtis, consider giving an additional gift to support this new initiative. If you are not yet a donor to Curtis, please join us and become a part of an incredible tradition of philanthropy that supports music-making of the highest caliber.
