Curtis Connect FAQ

What is Curtis Connect?

  • Curtis Connect (alumni.curtis.edu) is a digital networking community for alumni of the Curtis Institute of Music. Whether it's reconnecting with old friends (or making new ones), sharing news or upcoming opportunities, or applying for jobs posted by alumni, you'll find it on Curtis Connect.

How do I get started?

  • Activate your profile by clicking the link. We suggest syncing your LinkedIn profile, as it's the quickest and easiest way to confirm and add to your profile.
  • Follow the instructions to add all of the relevant information to your profile.
  • Post a message to say hello and introduce yourself in a regional or instrument-focus group, post about an upcoming gig or concert, browse to find people you know, and invite other alumni to join through social media.

Do I need to re-set my privacy or communications preferences with Curtis?

  • No. Curtis’s alumni and parent engagement office has pre-loaded your current privacy settings in the community. If you have requested no e-mail or mail, asked to not be listed publicly in the directory, or any other previous request, that has been marked in the settings on your account. You can change those settings and notifications at any time.

Is this just another social media channel?

  • No. Curtis Connect does not replace our social media channels. We still want to interact with you on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Curtis Connect is a space for Curtis alumni, faculty, staff, and students to interact, collaborate, and inspire each other through our shared community of experience. Find out below about all the things you can do on it.

What can I do on Curtis Connect?

  • Curtis Connect makes it easier to maximize the benefits of being part of the Curtis Alumni Network (CAN):
    • Your profile: Make instant updates to your contact details and employment information when they change, plus share updates with the rest of the network about projects you’re currently involved in.
    • Directory: Find old friends, make new connections—professional or personal, and collaborate on special projects. Contact individuals or groups of alumni.
    • Knowledge sharing: Volunteer to be a mentor for prospective students or young alumni, or search for an alum who can help you with careers advice and information. Participate in the new Alumni Referral Program.
    • Jobs and opportunities: Find and share job vacancies and other opportunities, such as internship opportunities, academic/study opportunities, festivals, and competitions or anything professionally useful you want to advertise to other Curtis alumni.
    • Events: Find out about alumni events or advertise your own alumni events/concerts; manage the entire registration process through the platform. Reserve tickets to Curtis Performances, learn more about upcoming reunions, share events out to social media, and even integrate with your preferred calendar app.
    • Messaging: Receive and send messages to other alumni. Manage what you receive by editing your notification and privacy settings.
    • Discussion and Interest Groups: Follow or start a discussion group to bring together people who have a common goal or interest.
