For 2016-17: All incoming students who were born on or after September 1, 1994 and will hold a high school diploma by September 1, 2016 are required to live in Lenfest Hall during their first two years of study at Curtis. Additionally, incoming students who are over 18 years of age and pursuing a high school diploma are required to live in Lenfest Hall during their first two years of study at Curtis.
Students who are 17 years of age and under and pursuing a high school diploma are required to live with a parent or guardian off-campus. Younger students who initially live off-campus with a parent or guardian are required to move into Lenfest Hall at the start of the academic year after they turn 18 or complete their high school diploma, whichever comes first.
Older students are strongly encouraged to consider the cost, safety, and convenience of living in Lenfest Hall.
Lenfest Hall, located at 1616 Locust Street, offers suite-style living with well thought-out design and amenities in line with what students expect in contemporary campus housing.
Each unit can serve four to six students and features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a small common area. A kitchenette and a free laundry room are provided on the fifth floor.
The building also features a convenient dining hall, offices, mailboxes, and the magnificent Gould Rehearsal Hall; 32 additional studios for lessons, individual practice, classes, and rehearsals; and a fifth-floor garden terrace. The building has 24-hour security attendants and security cameras. Residents of Lenfest Hall have 24-hour access to all practice rooms within the building.
For students who are not required to live in Lenfest Hall, upon request Curtis will provide materials to assist students in their search for suitable housing. Be sure to view the Housing Possibility List (coming soon). This will provide you with helpful information, including apartment listings and phone numbers for managers and landlords. Because of the serious time commitment required of Curtis students and for your safety, Curtis advises you to live within a five-block radius of campus.
