Barbara holds undergraduate degrees in art history, psychology, and music education and a M.M. in clarinet performance. Her private teachers have included David Weber of the New York Philharmonic and Anthony Gigliotti of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
An advocate for arts education, Barbara has worked as a music teacher, administrator, and researcher. She has spoken in support of music education at conventions on the state and national level, including the 2008 National Convention of the Head Start Association. Additionally, Barbara co-authored a research study on the benefits of arts-based learning which was published in the January 2010 issue of Early Childhood Research Quarterly.
She freelances for area orchestras, theaters, and the occasional rock band.
