Marketing Manager, Audience Development & Experience

The Marketing ManagerAudience Development and Experience is responsible for executing the sales strategy and marketing tactics outlined by the Director, Marketing to attract, retain, and engage audiences for the Curtis Institute of Music’s performances. Areas of focus include implementing a robust subscriber acquisition and retention program, managing institutional complimentary ticketing, initiating a group sales program, and collaborating across the organization to grow audiences for the wide variety of programming offered at Curtis.    

The Marketing Manager, Audience Development and Experience reports to the Director, Marketing and plays a critical role to support several strategic goals: to sustain growth and success of our students; to raise the profile of the school in Philadelphia and beyond; to position Curtis as an essential community resource for Philadelphia; to help diversify, expand, and strengthen the Curtis community; and to support a stable financial foundation on which to build the next 100 years of world-class education and artistry.  

Measurable outcomes include increased subscribers, single ticket buyers, and attendees at free events  

Essential Functions:

  • Execute and manage audience retention and growth plan for all performances, including Rush and student tickets, Rewards Card Program, audience communications and experience
  • Develop ticketing strategies for corporate community, out-of-town visitors, convention groups, school/university groups, professional associations, social clubs, and other local groups
  • Revise and create new sales strategies to help achieve departmental goals
  • Establish a group sales initiative from marketing tactics to implement engaging, high leverage campaigns that are efficient, cost effective, and targeted to grow audiences and revenue
  • Lead audience experience initiatives to align with Kimmel Center resident companies, providing regular institutional trainings and updates
  • Communicate effectively, not only with Curtis staff, on matters such as logistics in all channels of front-of-house with members of Kimmel Center, Ticket Philadelphia, Curtis trustees and high-profile donors, and all other presenting organization staffs
  • Support Advancement with complimentary or discount tickets and order mechanisms for Alumni and Volunteers programs
  • Establish good data practices for tracking audience information and participation
  • Monitor metrics from audience development efforts against key performance indicators
  • Track and monitor relevant budget lines
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of group sales, marketing and membership, or other relevant experience 
  • Previous experience with an entertainment, attraction, or performing arts presenter highly preferred 
  • A passion for and working knowledge of classical music preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proven track record in sales, with annual growth demonstrated in key areas of focus 
  • Exceptional patron service and retention abilities 
  • Capacity to manage up and down in a complex environment 
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet simultaneous deadline 
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a positive and collaborative demeanor 
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online, or other Blackbaud software is a plus
