Status: Part-time, Non-exempt: October 2023 – May 2024, option to continue Fall 2024

The Event Specialist role is responsible for day-to-day operations for front-of-house at Curtis Institute of Music performances during the school year. Areas of focus include ticket scanning, patron services, communication, and logistics. Working closely with and taking direction from the Marketing Manager, Audience Development and Experience, this position will help elevate the patron experience during performances in the Curtis Recital Series and major Curtis performance events as needed.

The role will coordinate patron check-in and ticketing scanning during recitals to ensure an enjoyable experience for both patrons and the performers. This position will have interactions with all patrons of Curtis events including major donors, board members, students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and other special guests of the institution. The role will also be in communication with the Production Team and Security to coordinate logistics during performances and other duties as assigned.

  • Essential Functions

    • Box office ticketing; scanning, reconciling, and reporting.
    • Patron care via in-person interactions.
    • Set-up of ticketing table, signage, and supplemental materials.
    • Communicate effectively with the Production Team and all performance attendees including students, faculty, staff, trustees, high-profile donors, long-term patrons, new guests.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate: 

    • Previous experience with an entertainment, attraction, or performing arts organization highly preferred.
    • A passion for and working knowledge of classical music preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Exceptional patron service and retention abilities.
    • Schedule flexibility to work nights and weekends for performances is required. The majority of our performances take place on weekday evenings.

    • COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement for all positions at the Curtis Institute of Music and all new hires are expected to be fully vaccinated before beginning work.
    • Compensation is hourly at $15/hour.
    • This position is not benefits eligible and the work schedule will be less than 30 hours per week.
