Kids Explore the World of Classical Music with Wells Fargo Family Concerts November 4
Introduction to the Keyboard Family and Friends presents the piano, organ, harpsichord, and celesta, plus guitar and harp
(October 31, 2012) Classical music comes alive as Curtis students share their love of keyboard instruments. These hour-long interactive programs are presented as part of the Wells Fargo Family Concerts at the Curtis Institute of Music on Sunday, November 4 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The piano, organ, harpsichord, and celesta meet up with their cousins the guitar and harp at a keyboard family reunion to explore their roots, discover what makes them each unique, and share their music. The concerts are best enjoyed by children ages five and older.
The November family concerts take place in Field Concert Hall at the Curtis Institute of Music, 1726 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children twelve and under. For tickets or more information, contact the Curtis Patron Services Office at 215-893-7902 or www.curtis.edu.
The Wells Fargo Family Concerts are part of the Curtis Community Engagement Program, which shares classical music with young people and others in the community who may not otherwise have access to it. Curtis students also provide interactive educational presentations for area schools, hospitals, senior centers, and community venues and coach young musicians around the world as part of Curtis On Tour and other programs.
The Curtis Institute of Music educates and trains exceptionally gifted young musicians for careers as performing artists on the highest professional level. One of the world's leading music schools, Curtis provides full-tuition scholarships to all of its 165 students, ensuring that admissions are based solely on artistic promise.
