Curtis subscribes to the Saturday-night concerts of the Philadelphia Orchestra on behalf of students. Curtis students may sign up for one ticket each week at the Office of Student Services on a first-come-first-served basis. A member of Student Council distributes tickets at the Kimmel Center fifteen minutes before each concert. The Philadelphia Orchestra also offers full-time college students the opportunity to see unlimited Orchestra concerts all season for $25 through its eZseatU program.
Curtis students may attend certain rehearsals of the Philadelphia Orchestra to observe Chief Conductor Charles Dutoit, the guest conductors and soloists, and the orchestra as they prepare for performances. Details are sent in “Take Note” or by a separate e-mail.
Opera performances always require tickets. Complimentary tickets are usually offered for productions held at the Prince Music Theater through the Curtis Ticket Office, but not for every performance. Offers and details are sent by e-mail and are posted on the ticket offers page on the intranet.
Orchestra performances in Verizon Hall and other off-campus locations always require tickets. Complimentary ticket offers and details are sent by e-mail and are posted on the ticket offers page on the intranet. Comp tickets can be picked up from the Curtis Ticket Office.
Depending on the presenter, there may be complimentary tickets for chamber orchestra concerts. Offers and details are sent by e-mail and are posted on the ticket offers page on the intranet.
Alumni recitals that are part of the Alumni Recital Series always require tickets. Complimentary student rush tickets are usually available pending availability; ask the Curtis Ticket Office for details. Alumni donate their services, and each year members of the Alumni Society of Greater Philadelphia work directly with Curtis to decide how proceeds from the series can be most beneficial to the students.
The Office of Student Services and the Ticket Office often receive complimentary tickets to non-Curtis musical events in the Philadelphia area. Notices are posted or e-mailed, and tickets are distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. The Office of Student Services also provides student membership cards for complimentary tickets offered through Philadelphia Chamber Music Society concerts.
