Formed at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2008, the Dover String Quartet (formerly the Old City String Quartet) draws from the musical lineage of both the Vermeer and Guarneri quartets and brings a youthful enthusiasm and musical conviction to the repertoire that is truly its own. Praised by The Strad for their "exceptional interpretative maturity, tonal refinement and taut ensemble," the quartet was named Gold Medalist and Grand Prize winner of the 2010 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and was awarded Second Prize in the 2009 Young Concert Artists International Auditions.

The family concerts are part of the Curtis Community Engagement Program, which aims to bring classical music to young people and others in the community who may not otherwise have access to music.
