Dancing Around the Bride
Curtis’s longstanding relationship with the Philadelphia Museum of Art yields two intriguing programs in connection with the PMA’s exhibition Dancing Around the Bride and the Cage: Beyond Silence festival, presented by Bowerbird in conjunction with the PMA. On January 18, a free recital at Gould Rehearsal Hall features Curtis 20/21 and the Percussion Studio in a John Cage retrospective to celebrate the centenary of his birth. Two days later, Curtis students join with the PRISM Saxophone Quartet at PMA in a program that includes Cage’s last completed work, Thirteen (1992). The January 20 event is free with museum admission. Also, check out Music in the Galleries featuring Curtis musicians every month at the PMA.
