Curtis Symphony Orchestra FAQs

Answers to common questions Curtis Symphony Orchestra patrons have asked:

What do most people wear?

Curtis does not have a dress code; you will find a range of attire from casual to suits and dresses. Most people wear 'business casual.'

Where should I park? Any discounts?

Discounted parking is available at Standard Parking's Pullman Garage. To receive the discount make sure to get your parking ticket stamped at the Curtis ticket table in the Kimmel Center lobby before the performance.

Standard Parking Pullman Garage (north side of street)
1617 Chancellor Street (between Walnut and Locust streets)

For details, please visit our Contact / Find Us page.

Other parking options are available. Visit the Philadelphia Parking Authority parkingfinder.

Any restaurant suggestions?

Please view our restaurant page for a listing of nearby restaurants.

May I bring food or beverages into the performance space?

No food or beverages are permitted in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center. Please unwrap candies before the performance begins, and be mindful of those around you. Feel free to enjoy beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks, and treats from the lobby bar before the performance or during intermission.

How do I know where to sit?

Check your tickets for the seating section, door, and row. Ask the ushers if you are uncertain of where to go. View seating chart.

When should I applaud?

During a piece with multiple movements, please hold your applause in between each movement and wait for the end of each piece. When in doubt, wait for others. As tempting as it is to beat the crowd out of the venue, please stay to applaud the performers. For great performances, feel free to stand and applaud. The musicians have worked hard and deserve your thanks.

I can't find my tickets or never received them. What should I do?

If you are a Curtis Symphony Orchestra subscriber or purchased tickets through the Curtis Ticket Office, contact the Curtis Ticket Office at (215) 893-7902. Reprinted tickets can then be held under your name for pick up at the Kimmel Center box office. If you purchased tickets at the Kimmel Center box office or through Ticket Philadelphia, contact Ticket Philadelphia at (215) 893-1999. If you arrive without your tickets, the Kimmel Center box office staff should be able to reprint your tickets on the spot if you know under what name the tickets were reserved.

I am no longer able to attend the performance. What should I do?

On average, 20-30 percent of audience members do not show up on the day of the performance—that equals hundreds of empty seats in Verizon Hall! If you are unable to find someone else to use your tickets, please return your tickets to the Kimmel Center box office with as much notice as possible or contact the Curtis Ticket Office at (215) 893-7902 so we can try to find someone else to use your seats. We like to have the fullest house possible for our performers. Thank you for your help in this matter.
