June 30 Curtis Summerfest Faculty Recital Features Jeffrey Khaner, Mikael Eliasen, Jonathan Beyer, and Rachel Sterrenberg


PHILADELPHIA, PA – June 28, 2017 – The 2017 Curtis Summerfest Faculty Recitals continue with a program of favorite opera arias, songs, and instrumental works by Franck, Mozart, Puccini, Tosti, Gershwin, Copland, and Tchaikovsky on Friday, June 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Field Concert Hall. 

Baritone Jonathan Beyer (’07), national finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition, and soprano Rachel Sterrenberg (’15), Opera Philadelphia Emerging Artist (2014–16) perform favorite opera arias and songs with pianist Mikael Eliasen, artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre and Hirsig Family Dean of Vocal Studies. Jeffrey Khaner, principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra, performs Franck’s Flute Sonata with Yoni Levyatov, piano.

The recital takes place in Field Concert Hall at the Curtis Institute of Music, 1726 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $25 and are available from the Curtis Patron Services Office at Curtis.edu/SummerTickets

Curtis Summerfest Faculty Recitals, now in their third year, feature distinguished chamber musicians from the Curtis Summerfest faculty. These remarkable artists, many of them Curtis alumni, perform a variety of repertoire—from beloved classics to the music of today—in the timeless setting of Field Concert Hall. “A wonderful jolt of established Curtis insiders with outside talent” (Philadelphia Inquirer), the 2017 series features faculty from four different summer programs including Katherine Needleman, Steven Copes, Adam Unsworth, Toby Appel, and others. Additional recitals this summer take place on July 21July 28, and August 3.
