GENERAL HOLDINGS
The first three floors of the Milton L. Rock Resource Center contain more than eighty thousand music scores, books, and recordings that you may either study or use for performing. In addition the library collects manuscripts, gifts of music, and memorabilia of Curtis and people associated with it.

The library is not designed to provide the music for your major subjects or for your secondary piano lessons: You must supply that music yourself. However, the library does provide chamber music, and the orchestra library supplies music for the orchestra.

DIGITAL COLLECTIONS
In the summer of 2009, Curtis Archives partnered with Lyrasis and the Sloan Foundation in a project to digitize Curtis publications up to 1974. Find early issues of Overtones (including the fiftieth-anniversary edition), along with recital programs and catalogues up to 1971. Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR), users can search past publications by keyword, name, title, and the like. Browse through Curtis history at your own pace. This is an excellent tool for researchers, alumni, current staff, and students.

For information in more recent publications, please contact the Curtis archivist.

ORCHESTRA LIBRARY
The fourth floor of the Milton L. Rock Resource Center houses both the orchestra library and the performance activities office. The orchestra library collection contains some 1,400 sets of parts, many of which came to Curtis from the collection of Max Rudolf.

The orchestra library provides the music for orchestra rehearsals and performances, as well as for string, wind, and percussion classes. To obtain orchestra parts for practice, lessons, or auditions, e-mail the orchestra manager. Please allow at least twenty-four hours for all practice part requests. Full scores from the orchestra library do not circulate, but you can check out study and miniature scores from the second floor of the library.

Please treat all orchestral material with maximum care. Use a pencil to insert bowings, phrasings, and cut signs. Do not use ink. If you damage or lose a part, you must pay for its replacement.

LIBRARY ACCESS AND POLICIES
The library is for your use, as well as that of faculty members and Philadelphia-area alumni. Outside researchers seeking access to special collections or archival material must apply in writing to Elizabeth Walker, head librarian.

Please do not leave library materials unattended anywhere. You are responsible for any items you have checked out, whether they are lost, stolen, or damaged.

Other rules and policies of the library are listed in the library information section of the ROC, the library's online catalog, accessible from any computer on the Curtis network at http://10.0.0.15. Whenever you need help, please ask one of the librarians.
