DEGREE PROGRAMS
The Curtis Institute of Music offers the following programs: the Diploma, the Bachelor of Music, and the Master of Music in Opera. It also offers a program leading to a Professional Studies Certificate in Opera.

Curtis provides complete and diversified musical training. In addition to private instruction with distinguished artist-teachers, students participate in classes including diction coaching for singers, chamber music sessions for instrumentalists, and master classes by renowned visiting artists. Curtis students also have many opportunities to perform, both as soloists and as members of ensembles.

The Institute's founder, Mary Louise Curtis Bok, intended that "Students shall learn to think and express their thoughts against a background of quiet culture, with the stimulus of personal contact with artist teachers who represent the highest and finest in their art." In order to create the environment Mrs. Bok envisioned, the Curtis curriculum combines one-on-one training with master artists along with courses in liberal arts, musical studies, and career studies.

Students who have completed Curtis's liberal arts requirements may enroll at no cost at the University of Pennsylvania for additional courses not available at Curtis, under the Reciprocal Agreement between the two schools.
