Curtis Alumni

Over the years, many Curtis alumni have gone on to make musical history as solo performers, composers, and conductors. They can be found in virtually every major orchestra and opera company around the world.

Seventeen percent of the principal chairs in America's top twenty-five orchestras and four music directorships in the top fifty are held by Curtis-trained musicians.

Dozens of alumni are members of chamber music groups, such as the Guarneri String Quartet, Miami String Quartet and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

More than sixty alumni have gone on to sing with the Metropolitan Opera, and Curtis-trained singers are frequently heard with leading opera companies worldwide.

Graduates also hold positions as teachers and directors of music schools and departments throughout the world. Curtis alumni have claimed top awards, grants, and competition prizes in the United States and abroad, including Pulitzer Prizes, Guggenheim Fellowships, Avery Fisher and Leventritt awards, Naumburg and Queen Elisabeth competition prizes, and Metropolitan Opera Finals Awards.
