Founder's Society

During her lifetime Curtis’s founder, Mary Louise Curtis Bok, took personal responsibility for the Curtis Institute of Music and its policy of providing every student with a merit-based full-tuition scholarship. Today Curtis continues to maintain its full-tuition scholarship policy thanks to the generosity and vision of Mrs. Bok and of donors who give annually and strengthen the school's endowment through legacy gifts.

Join the Founder's Society

The Founder's Society at Curtis honors all who have included the school as a beneficiary under their wills, trusts, life-insurance policies, retirement plans, and other estate-planning arrangements.

The legacy and forward-thinking commitment to Curtis made by Founder’s Society members are greatly appreciated and appropriately recognized. Members of the Founder's Society are listed in concert programs and receive Curtis announcements and publications, such as Overtones and the annual report.

How to become a member of the Founder's Society

To join the Founder's Society, call the development office at (215) 717-3126 and request a "Letter of Intent."  Once completed, return it to:

Advancement Office
Curtis Institute of Music
1726 Locust St.
Philadelphia PA 19103

Curtis's letter of intent is non-binding, meaning that it is not a contractual agreement, but instead a statement of your intentions.

Although not required, the school requests that donors send a copy of the provisions made for Curtis in their will or trust and a description of the gift to Curtis. If provided, this information will be kept in the strictest confidence.

If desired, donors can be listed as "Anonymous" members of the Founder's Society.
