Past Composers in Residence
Student composers at Curtis—as well as student performers and conductors—have the rare opportunity to work with eminent composers in residence each year. The composer in residence spends a week or more at Curtis coaching his or her work with soloists and ensembles of all sizes, while also providing intensive, one-on-one mentoring to students in the composition department.
Past composers in residence include John Corigliano, George Crumb, Steven Stucky, and Joan Tower. The 2013-14 composer in residence is Krzysztof Penderecki (see residency activities).
