Sheridan Seyfried

Keyboard Lab, Counterpoint, Harmony, Solfège for Singers, Fundamentals


Sheridan Seyfried, a composer and pianist, is a native of Philadelphia. He was educated at the Curtis Institute of Music, where his mentors included Edward Aldwell, Richard Danielpour, James Grant, Jennifer Higdon, and Ned Rorem. Upon graduating he received Curtis's Alfredo Casella Award in Composition. He has since earned a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music.

Mr. Seyfried's works include orchestral, chamber, solo, and film music and have been performed in major venues throughout the world. His music has been played by artists including Ida Kavafian, Anne-Marie McDermott, Steve Tenenbom, and Peter Wiley, as well as by the Minnesota Orchestra. Mr. Seyfried's honors include an ASCAP Young Composer Award and a Presser Music Award. In 2002 he was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. In 2006 he was a composer-in-residence at the Music From Angel Fire (NM) festival. His recent commissions include a piece for the Chamber Music Northwest festival.

He joined the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in 2008.
