English as a Second Language
Joanna Labov has taught English as a Second Language for more than 20 years. She earned a Master’s degree in TESOL and a doctorate in educational linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from UCLA.
Ms. Labov has prepared graduate students at New York University, Teachers College, and the University of Pennsylvania to teach ESL. She has taught graduate courses in TESOL Methodology and Applied Linguistics including Second Language Acquisition, Sociolinguistics, Sociology of Language and other courses. Ms. Labov joined the Curtis faculty in 2012.
