Jeffrey Lang is the associate principal horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He was formerly principal horn of the Israel Philharmonic and the American Symphony Orchestra; and has also performed as guest principal horn of the Bavarian Radio, New York City Opera, and Orpheus Chamber orchestras.
Mr. Lang has appeared as soloist with conductors Leon Botstein, Mung-Whun Chung, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, and Rossen Milanov. Chamber music performances at home and abroad have included concerts with Melvin Chen, Bella Davidovich, Simone Dinnerstein, Diane Walsh, the Canadian Brass, the Israel Piano Trio, the Wister Quartet, and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has participated in the Bard Summerscape, Kingston Chamber Music, OK Mozart, and Spoleto festivals; and has given master classes in Israel, Finland, Korea, China, and the United States.
Mr. Lang was principal horn of Disney's long running Broadway hit, Beauty and the Beast. He recently released a solo horn album, One World Horn, a charitable project presenting unaccompanied horn works from around the world. His live recording of Richard Wilson's Triple Concerto for Horn, Marimba and Bass Clarinet with the American Symphony Orchestra available on iTunes.
Mr. Lang studied at the Juilliard School and Temple University. He joined the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in 2012 and also serves on the faculties of Bard College and Temple University.
