Curtis Institute of Music Anniversary Gala Celebrates 90 Years of Music-Making with Luminary Faculty, Alumni, and Students

WHAT: The Curtis Institute of Music celebrates 90 years of music-making with an anniversary gala for over 300 guests featuring luminary alumni, faculty, and students on May 6 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue.
The gala begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. in the Conservatory Room, followed by music and dinner in the Grand Ballroom at 7 p.m. The pre-dinner performances includes a unique progression of musical vignettes curated by celebrated faculty members Mikael Eliasen, artistic director of the Curtis Opera Theatre; Ida Kavafian, acclaimed violist and violinist; Hal Robinson, principal bass of the Philadelphia Orchestra; and Michael Rusinek (Clarinet '92), principal of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Performers include Erin Keefe (Violin '03), concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra; Susie Park (Violin '04) of the acclaimed Eroica Trio; Avery Fisher Career Grant winners Benjamin Beilman (Violin '12) and Bella Hristova (Violin '08); as well as a number of emerging artists like Rebecca Anderson (Violin '13) and Barbora Kolarova (Violin '12).
After dinner, Curtis alumni trio Time for Three, hailed by Simon Rattle as "the future of music," will take the stage in a rousing set with classical guitar phenomenon and faculty member Jason Vieaux, rising star Sarah Shafer (Opera '14), and Carmen sensation Rinat Shaham (Opera '98)—a dynamic combination of musicians giving a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
To wrap up the evening, Young Friends and alumni of Curtis enjoy an after-party at the Bellevue's XIX, with special guests Time for Three. To date, more than $500,000 has been raised in support of the mission and programs of Curtis.
