Brass Olympics 2011: Let the Games Begin! Wells Fargo Family Concerts November 13

Interactive, One-Hour Concerts Teach Children about the Brass Family

Programs take place inside Lenfest Hall, the Curtis Institute of Music's new building at 1616 Locust Street

(November 7, 2011) Curtis students present the Brass Olympics 2011, introducing children to the trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba, as part of the Wells Fargo Family Concerts on Sunday, November 13 at 2 and 4 p.m.

The interactive, one-hour concerts take place in Gould Rehearsal Hall, located inside Curtis's new Lenfest Hall at 1616 Locust Street. Curtis students take kids through warm-ups, contests, and games that teach them about brass instruments. The programs are best enjoyed by children ages five and older.

Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children twelve and under. For tickets or more information, contact the Curtis Ticket Office at (215) 893-7902 or www.curtis.edu. The concerts are presented with the support of Wells Fargo.

The family concerts are part of the Curtis Community Engagement Program, which shares classical music with young people and others in the community who may not otherwise have access to it. Curtis students also provide interactive educational presentations for area schools, hospitals, senior centers, and community venues through the Community Engagement Program.

Curtis receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
