"An Opera Adventure": Wells Fargo Family Concerts February 19
Introduce Kids to Classical Music with Wells Fargo Family Concerts at Curtis
Interactive One-Hour Concerts take place inside Field Concert Hall at the Curtis Institute of Music, 1726 Locust Street
(February 14, 2012) A cast of characters introduces kids to opera in a most interactive way with An Opera Adventure, presented as part of the Wells Fargo Family Concerts at the Curtis Institute of Music on Sunday, February 19 at 2 and 4 p.m.
Curtis vocal students arrive onstage, in character, needing a little help from the audience. As the characters sing their way from scene to scene, the audience will decide what they do next and even become part of the action. During each one-hour program, Curtis students explain the basics of singing and the world of opera. The concerts are best enjoyed by children ages five and older.
The program takes place in Field Concert Hall at the Curtis Institute of Music, 1726 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children twelve and under. For tickets or more information, contact the Curtis Ticket Office at (215) 893-7902 or www.curtis.edu. Family concerts at Curtis are presented with the support of Wells Fargo.
The family concerts are part of the Curtis Community Engagement Program, which aims to bring classical music to young people and others in the community who may not otherwise have access to music. Curtis students also provide interactive educational presentations for area schools, hospitals, senior centers, and community venues through the Community Engagement Program.
The Curtis Institute of Music receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
